Being Fully Prepared For A New Baby
If you or someone that you know is a new parent, you might be wondering what is among the first and most important things that you should be getting. These items listed below are not exactly on the obvious list. This means that you can benefit from learning about these items, which you may or may not have considered.
You see, I cannot assume what you consider to be the most important in terms of purchases for the new baby, and therefore I have opted to provide you with some more obscure choices. The reason that these are best purchased before the baby arrives, is that it will be easier to now rather than with a newborn.
A breast pump is likely something you should have on your list. For starters, breast milk is the best supplement and nourishment for your newborn. In addition, it promotes brain development and a strong immune system. It is not always practical to breastfeed wherever you go though, and that is why you might benefit from a breast pump. You can save yourself some time by getting a double electric breast pump.
Another thing you ought to consider is a mobile for the crib. A lot of people don’t realize that for most models of cribs, these are interchangeable. So you could benefit from buying more than one to keep it interesting for your child. This is to occupy them until they can fall asleep on their own in the crib. So the attractive qualities of it benefit you as well.
You will also likely find that baby bath tubs are very important in the care for your child. They make bath time fun and safe for the baby, and take a little bit of the stress of bathing from you.
Some other items that you might already know about, but really cannot have enough of are: diapers, burp cloths and outfits. While it might seem like a no-brainer to purchase these three items, you can vastly benefit from buying them in abundance. You will find that you are using all of these throughout the day on several occasions. When you add up several uses over a week or a month, you find yourself with quite a hefty sum.
While you are likely aware of all of these items, you might not have considered them important enough to rush out and get. Truthfully, I believe that they are. So if you find yourself without an item on this list that you will likely need, I would encourage you to waste no more time.
Must Haves For The New Baby
Shopping for someone who is expecting a baby can be difficult. You should keep in mind that there are some things every new parent needs. There are also some things that they can never have enough of. If you are shopping for a baby shower then here is a general list to go by to help you out some. This is my personal list and I hope it will save you some time.
When they leave the hospital they will need a car seat. This is non negotiable because it is the law and a lot safer for baby. If you are looking for a car seat then I recommend the Graco Car Seat. These are vigorously tested and affordable. All parents want to know that their baby is safe especially while they are driving.
When you have a new baby you will be amazed at the number of diapers they go through in the first weeks. This is something you should stock up on. And unless you want to do laundry every day then they need a lot of clothes to. One piece outfits with snaps in the crotch are great for a new baby and make diaper changing easy.
A few other essentials that are often over looked are things like soap, powder, lotion, and oil to protect baby’s skin. For a baby bath they have small tubs that are specially designed to keep baby safe during the bath. These also make bathing baby much easier but keep in mind never to leave baby alone in it.
Babies also seem to use a lot of blankets especially during the colder months. These are a must have to help prevent baby from catching a cold. A sick baby is no fun for mom and dad plus it can be very hard for a new born. Blankets can also be used to lay baby on and you always need plenty close by.
Anyone who has carried a baby for a walk or at the store knows what a big help a stroller can be. The Graco Stroller is great for making baby mobile so mom and dad don’t have to tote him or her every where they go. Graco makes a lot of other neat products for baby and I have always been pleased with them.
These items can make your life much easier when you are taking care of a new baby. Be sure to have plenty of everything you need. The first days at home are important to you both and you want to have the things you needs without going out for more.
Making Baby’s Homecoming Tension Free
You have had your baby. Now the real fun begins! Bringing your baby home from the hospital is a big event. Your life will never be the same again. Hopefully, you have prepared for the baby’s arrival during your pregnancy. Now is the big day. What kinds of things can you do to make your transition go more smoothly?
Rule number one is sleep when baby sleeps. New parents often think to themselves that they will do the laundry or make dinner while the baby naps. For the first two weeks after you come home from the hospital, you need to sleep when baby does. There is no two ways about it. To be a good parent, you need to feel well rested.
If you cannot stand a slightly messy house, you have two choices. You can either hire a housekeeper or get used to things not being perfectly cleaned like they were before baby. It is extremely tempting to try and do all of your chores when the baby is asleep. If you find yourself doing this, please remember that you need to sleep as much as you can. Your main purpose in life at this moment is to care for your newborn.
Stock up on diapers before the baby is due. Diaper services, if you are using cloth diapers, deliver ahead of time you just need to let them know when you want a delivery. Make sure to have at least one bag of disposable diapers even if you are using cloth. If your baby is going to wear disposable diapers, having four bags at home will make life easier in the long run.
New mother’s milk does not come in for a day or two after birth. Your baby will still be hungry. To avoid frustration about not being able to fully feed her, have a can of baby formula on hand. You can supplement your nursing with formula until you can feed her 100% on your own.
During the night, in order to increase the amount of sleep you get, it is easy to bring the baby into your bed to nurse. Some families with sleep with the baby in the parents’ bed, others are not comfortable with this. If this is the case for you, purchasing a small crib or basinette and letting the baby sleep right next to you will make night nursing easier. Just reach over and bring the baby into your bed. When you are finished, put the baby back in his basinette.
A new parent often worries about the baby’s safety. Purchasing a new dect baby monitor prior to bringing the baby home will enable you to hear the baby sleeping or when she wakes up. Another way to make sure she is safe is to purchase a baby bath that fits easily into the sink instead of trying to bathe her in a large bathtub. You will be able to keep her slippery little body safely in your hands with a small baby bathtub.
Make sure you spend time with your baby. Even though having a newborn is difficult, you will look back fondly to the time you spent with your baby at the beginning of her life. Babies grow up very fast. Your chores will always be there.
You Do Not Need To Spend A Fortune On A Newborn
One of the most exciting events in a person’s life, is the birth of a baby. People plan and save for just such an event. Couples wait nine months in anticipation of what their baby will look like, and who he or she will become. Even choosing the correct name for the new baby may become a huge family issue, involving great planning.
It is seriously unnecessary to break the bank in preparing for the arrival of a new baby. Unfortunately, many inexperienced parents are unaware of this fact, and find themselves spending way too much. Remember, this child will not be an infant forever. They will only become more expensive.
Many purchases that are generally made may in fact be eliminated. This will leave more cash available for the future, when it will be seriously needed.
So many parents purchase photos that are provided by the hospital. Many receive these weeks later, only to be quite disappointed. Be sure to bring your own digital camera to the hospital with you. This way you may take as many photos as you like, likely get a great one, and avoid this unnecessary cost. If you do not own one, you may find an add with a for sale digital camera, for about what the hospital photos would cost.
What about the changing table? Why do people still buy these? This is indeed a large expense for an item that will be used so infrequently. A lot of people purchase a changing table because they believe it completes the nursery, and then never even use it. What a waste of hard earned cash.
Some new parents, and especially first time parents, spend an outrageous amount of money in preparation for a newborn. The nursery is stocked as well as the displays in the local boutique. Every imaginable baby gadget and gear is available. They hardly have room for the baby, which is ironic, because at this stage, the baby is probably still sleeping in their room.
A wireless baby monitor is a perfect example of a necessary purchase. This will allow parents to hear the baby from ever room of the house, and frequently even from outside.
Any seasoned parent will tell you that the greatest expense at this point will be diapers. Choosing cloth diapers may be an excellent alternative to expensive disposable ones. A crib, clothing, (not too much, babies grow quickly), a few baby bath toys, a car seat, and a simple stroller will be just about all the basics that are needed.
Keep in mind, as excited as you are, this is only the beginning. The expenses will continue. So exercise self control, and spend wisely.
